About
The 21st century, also known as the Asian century, is not only the century in which China and India rose again to prominence, but also the century which is seeing the rise of other parts of this continent, home to over half the world’s population. Within the next few years, China is expected to overtake the USA and become the world’s largest economy.
Israel has diplomatic relations, and economic, military, technological, and scientific ties with most Asian countries. However, while Asia is becoming increasingly important to Israel and the Middle East in general, Israelis knowledge of Asian countries is weak. Israel has an increasing need for scholars who are experts in Asian politics, Asian society, the Asian economy, and local Asian cultures, to meet the requirements of the private and public sectors, as well as for academic research.
