About
Students in this program will be awarded a Ph.D. The aim of the doctoral program of the Department of Learning Disabilities is to train researchers from higher education institutions in a specific aspect of the subject of learning disabilities. The Ph.D. program in the Learning Disabilities Department does not qualify graduates to evaluate and treat learning disabilities.
Doctoral students must take a limited number of advanced courses while the program mainly involves writing a research proposal, conducting the research, and writing the dissertation, all under the guidance of a personal supervisor from the department’s faculty. The program is spread over approximately four years and the university offers grants for outstanding students. In exceptional cases, a student may be accepted to the direct doctoral track which includes a Master of Arts (without having to write a M.A. thesis). This track is offered to particularly outstanding M.A. students from the department and acceptance to this track is rare.
Admission Requirements
Full and current details of the registration criteria, registration and acceptance process, curriculum, instructions, and forms are all available on the Ph.D. program page of the Department of Learning Disabilities website and on the Graduate Studies Authority website.
