About
The aim of the Master of Arts program in the Department of Music is to help students develop independent thought and acquire tools for unique research and creative projects (composition). In addition, we encourage our students to work in a multi-disciplinary creative environment within the School of Arts. The Master of Arts program provides significant theoretical knowledge on which the students will be able to base their future research and creative activities.
Admission Requirements
Bachelor of Arts in the fields of music, musicology or music teaching – with a minimum grade point average of 80.
The departmental acceptance process includes the presentation of a portfolio according to the field of specialization. Suitable candidates will be invited to an interview which will include a presentation before the departmental MA committee.
Department requirements specified on the department website.
Programs
The program has two study tracks:
Track A: Includes writing a research paper – training students in one of three areas of specialization: Composition, historical musicology, contemporary music, and cultures.
Track B: Does not entail writing a research paper – broadening and deepening the professional training of students in a wide range of fields of interest.
Employment
Employment options upon graduation: In the field of creative arts, performing arts, teaching in schools (for those holding a teaching certificate), and academic research.
