About
Our Philosophy Department is considered one of Israel’s top departments. Its lecturers are outstanding researchers of global repute. Studies in the department, for all degrees, are characterized by a comfortable and dynamic atmosphere, individual attention, a wide selection of elective classes and accessible lecturers.
The Master of Arts is intended to deepen the knowledge and understanding of philosophical problems in various fields. These studies enable students to specialize in their area of interest and provide students with deeper skills in thinking and writing, building on those acquired in their B.A. In addition students require skills required for research in philosophy and in preparation for doctoral studies.
Admission Requirements
Department requirements specified on the department’s website.
B.A. in Philosophy or in any other field, a grade point average of 80 or higher and any required supplementary studies.
Philosophy of Science and Rationality: B.A. in Philosophy or in any other field, a grade point average of 80 or higher and any required supplementary studies.
Programs
Master of Arts in a research track with a thesis or a non-thesis option.
In addition, the department offers a unique study program, “Philosophy of Science and Rationality” in a research track, with a thesis or non-thesis option. Details on the program website.
Employment
Employment options upon graduation: You will not find many job offers stating: “Philosopher required.” However, one must remember that B.A. students commonly pursue a double major, which enables them to combine a “practical” choice with philosophy studies that promotes interest, understanding, and even wisdom. In any case, research in the US and other countries shows (see details on the department website) that the study of philosophy endows students with a significant advantage regarding employment, and important tools that will serve you in any work you choose, as long as one of the job requirements is: to think.
